The University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) unites the Medical Faculty of the Georg-August University and the University Hospital in an integration model. With around 9,700 employees, the UMG and its subsidiaries are one of the largest employers in the region. Our clinics and institutes stand for high-quality patient care, excellent research, modern teaching and transfer of innovative technology.
Göttingen as a city of science is located in the center of Germany and the University Medical Center Göttingen is integrated into an attractive network of university and non-university scientific institutions.
The Klinik für Gastroenterologie, gastrointestinale Onkologie und Endokrinologie of the University Medical Center Göttingen is looking for a new position for the earliest start date
Postdoctoral position as Application Scientist (f/m/d)
full time, limited for 2 years with a potential extension for up to 3 years
Remuneration according to TV-L
My research group at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) investigates cancer metabolism and metabolic plasticity during metastatic progression. My research focuses on identifying metabolic vulnerabilities in pancreatic cancer and other entities across the different stages of the metastatic cascade. To uncover novel therapeutic targets for organ metastasis, we employ state-of-the-art technologies, including in vitro and in vivo CRISPR screening approaches. In addition, my laboratory integrates comprehensive metabolomics and lipidomics analyses of cancer cells, tumor tissues, and other biological samples to characterize dynamic metabolic adaptations and capture the mechanisms underlying metabolic plasticity during cancer progression. Funding for this position is provided by the “UMG2032 - Excellence through Focus” project, funded by zukunft.niedersachsen, the joint science funding program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation.
