PhD student (f/m/d)

part time, with 25,025 hours per week, limited for 3 years

We are looking for an excellent and highly motivated PhD student (f/m/d) with an interest in the study of cardiac electrophysiology and develop new optogenetic approaches for this purpose. The successful applicant will be part of the Göttingen Campus and can be associated to the FOR 5807 and RTG2824. He/she/it will explore new channelrhodopsins and optoGPCRs developed by us and collaboration partners as well as test new photopharmacological approaches with the aim to develop cardiac arrhythmia termination further.

Your tasks

Design, cloning and testing of new constructs
Functional readout of hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and isometric force measurements of ventricular slices from mice and humans
Test the best suited approaches in mouse hearts

Your qualifications

Completed Master of Sciences or equivalent in a Life Sciences subject (molecular medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, …)
Labwork experience
Independent, responsible, flexible working style and ability to work in an international team
Interested in basic cardiovascular research, electrophysiology and optogenetics
