Postdoctoral scientist (f/m/d)

full time, 38,5 hours per week, 1 year

The goal of the Fernandez-Busnadiego lab is to unravel the structural basis of fundamental cellular mechanisms, as well as their alterations in human disease. To that end, we employ multidisciplinary approaches, pivoting on state-of-the art cryo-electron tomography (see e.g. Bäuerlein et al., Cell 2017; Guo et al., Cell 2018; Collado et al., Dev Cell 2019; Trinkaus et al., Nat Comm 2021; Jentoft et al. Cell 2023; Wagner et al., Nature 2024; Ehses et al., Sci Adv 2026).

We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist with extensive experience in cryo-ET to investigate in situ the molecular mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease.

Your tasks

to carry out correlative cryo-light microscopy, cryo-focused ion beam milling and cryo-electron tomography to investigate the molecular architecture of neurons within mammalian cells and tissues
to quantitative analyze cryo-ET data

Your qualifications

Ph.D. in biology or related fields
extensive research experience in structural biology, preferably cryo-ET
experience in mitochondrial biology is also highly desired
